I-TECH Joins PAGE Cooperative.

I-TECH is now a preferred PAGE Cooperative supplier. The consortium has agreed that I-TECH offers unique family of press automation products that will benefit their members. I-TECH made a presentation to the panel members with the argument “why does your group need another automated Register / Ribbon / Cutoff control provider?”. It was difficult at best, but we were successful in making our case. The times have changed and technology does not stand still.  Advances have taken place in the

several fields of computer imaging among other engineering disciplines. This has allowed our I-TECH Engineers to design product lines with increased performance while at the same time driving down costs. There were at least ten enabling technologies that Mr. Brandenburg articulated to the panel, explaining how each of the different innovations have set the I-TECH product offering ahead of the pack.  In today’s very competitive news printing market, automated Color-to-Color Registration control is simply imperative.

The presentation was held in Orlando Florida in early June, and approval was soon made a few weeks later. We look forward to working with all the Page Cooperative members and to show them how I-TECH can provide them with press automation products specifically designed for waste savings and quality improvement. I-TECH Helps Tribune Printing Co. (TPC) Reduce Waste by 30%. After the first 90-days of operation, the Columbia MO site is experiencing an impressive 30% drop in total waste.  This kind of waste savings they see today is something we projected back when the rest of the project was completed in March 2010. The projection was purely based on the data we saw. We expected that it was only a matter of time as the press operators ramp up in proficiency before TPC would start

seeing the full benefits of the system. Still at this point, we believe there is most likely some more room to improve and so we will closely watch their progress. TPC is keenly aware of their product quality. Their products (including news prints) do not “hit the skids” until they meet such a very high level of quality standards. Before I-TECH automation, they have avoided taking commercial work that have very stringent registration requirements. Today, they are more aggressive

about going after those commercial work, acquiring new customers that they would not previously consider. To date, TPC is projecting paper savings of 279 Metric tons per year. In addition, crew optimization was made possible. “This is a direct result of having to pay less attention to register by virtue of the I-Tech controls.” - TPC. I-TECH Completes Upgrade Project at VOX Printing. Using our trade-in program, VOX has replaced a “working” legacy Register Control system. Subsequently, a second register system was installed. Both projects are now complete and the products are delivering top notch performance as promised. The first system is installed on a Muller Martini, a variable cylinder sized press.  VOX prints placemat products for McDonalds among other similar products. The Register Camera uses NANO marks (practically invisible) for Color-to-Color unit position monitoring and control. They used to print a larger vertical register mark that was taking up much more space, so converting to the

I-TECH NANO register mark was a big bonus. In addition, the system includes an Intelligent Cutoff Camera for automated Sheeter control. Both register and cutoff systems are controlled from one centralized touch screen or console/server. The cutoff camera uses the tiny Ribbon NANO mark as an image reference. But what is more amazing is that the camera recognizes the mark printed in YELLOW ink. Yes, YELLOW ink...talk about invisibility! The I-TECH Automated Color Register control on the Muller press has each camera mounted after the last print units for the fastest control response. This is one largest factor in minimizing waste.

One camera installed immediately after the  4th unit and one after the 8th. The second system is much simpler (but just as important),  running on Didde press, controlling just one side of a 4/1 color press. However, coming from a completely Manual process to a fully Automated process has allowed their operators to see a world of difference in terms of production efficiency. VOX management wisely decided to replace their older-legacy system that was simply under-performing, chose products built on the latest available technologies from I-TECH. And they have never looked back since.
